Nurpur, June 23
Following directions of the Deputy Commissioner, Kangra, the local SDM today started magisterial inquiry into the reasons behind the collapse of a three-storey building at Jassur near here on June 16 in which two persons were buried alive and one was injured.
According to information, the Nurpur SDM constituted a four-member expert committee yesterday for the purpose. The committee inspected the site today. The building housed a wholesale footwear shop.
A large number of multi-storey buildings have come up during the past over two decades at Jassur town without any technical approval of any government agency.
SDM Abid Hussain said the committee had started investigations and would prepare its report within one week and the final report would be submitted to the Kangra DC for further action. He also admitted the absence of technical guidelines in undertaking construction of multi-storey buildings at Jassur as it fell in the panchayat area.
