Solan, February 22

Farmers affected from Ali Khud water scheme today convened a mahapanchayat at Namhol in Bilaspur district as their peaceful stir entered the 30th day.

The farmers are protesting the construction of a lift water scheme over Ali Khud, which lies in Navgaon panchayat of bordering Arki subdivision. Contending that the scheme would severally hit irrigation and potable water schemes, the villagers are objecting to the construction of the scheme, which would supply water to eight panchayats of Arki subdivision.

Former Congress MLA from Naina Devi Ramlal Thakur also lent his support to the peaceful agitation of the farmers. He participated in the meeting and said he would lead a delegation of affected farmers to air their grievances before the CM.
