Former Chief Minister PK Dhumal today said the inept handling of several cases, including the recent murder and rape of a minor girl, had put a question mark on the credibility of the state government and the police.

Addressing a press conference here today, Dhumal said though he welcomes the handing over the probe in the heinous crime to the CBI there were several questions which remain unanswered. “The manner in which the pictures of the accused were loaded on the Facebook account of the VVIP and later removed needs to be answered,” he demanded.

He said the state government, especially the police, had failed to protect the life and property of the people of the state. He demanded that there should be an inquiry to find out as to who uploaded the pictures of accused on the VVIP account and later why were they removed.

“When there is interference in the police functioning and a fair and impartial probe is hampered, then justice will be denied to the victims,” he said. He said the allegations were being levelled by various sections of the society that there was an attempt to shield the main accused. Dhumal said people had lost faith in the police and each time there is a demand for a CBI probe.
