Relief sought for fourlane-hit residents

NURPUR: The Sangharsh Samiti, Nurpur, has sought a compensation for residents of Kandwal, Raja ka Bagh, Chhatrolli and Jachh circles, who have been affected by a four-lane project.

The Sangharsh Samiti, Nurpur, has sought a compensation for residents of Kandwal, Raja ka Bagh, Chhatrolli and Jachh circles, who have been affected by a four-lane project. Residents, during a meeting convened under the chairmanship of samiti president Darbari Lal at Nagabari, near here, on Friday chalked out a future course of action.

The samiti president said the NHAI would soon acquire commercial as well as residential land from Kandwal to Bodh for the four-lane Pathankot-Mandi highway. The state had initiated the land acquisition process. “More than 200 families from Kandwal to Bodh are likely to be displaced. The affected inhabitants are demanding Rs 10 lakh per marla vacant commercial land and Rs 2 lakh per sq m for acquiring constructed commercial and residential buildings,” he said. — OC
