Resentment among the BJP workers came to the fore over the allotment of ticket in two constituencies of Badsar and Bhoranj. The BJP workers and many senior leaders of the constituencies had demanded immediate change of candidates for the respective constituencies.
Notably, the BJP had denied ticket to sitting MLA Anil Dhiman from the Bhoranj constituency. He is the son of ID Dhiman, a five time MLA from the constituency. Anil had won the seat recently with a margin of 8,290 votes. The seat has now been given to women candidate Kamlesh Kumari. Following the denial of ticket to the sitting MLA, the unit of Bhoranj BJP along with frontal cells of the organisation had sent resignation letter to national president Amit Shah with copies to the state president and district unit president. The resignation document signed by mandal president and over 75 office-bearers read that all members and office-bearers of the Bhoanj Mandal had resigned following the denial of ticket to Anil Dhiman and allotting the ticket to an outsider.
Jaimal Thakur had said all members of the Bhoranj BJP had submitted a joint resignation letter.
In Badsar, the BJP had given ticket to former MLA Baldev Sharma, which led to resentment among a larger group of BJP leaders and workers. The workers today burnt an effigy of Baldeve Sharma in Bijhri town of the constituency and demanded the change of candidate. The workers said they did not want to propose any particular leader but they would not support Baldev Sharma. Meanwhile, the BJP had released the list of candidates and following resentment among the workers, the leaders could either change the candidate or would try and pacify the anger of workers.
