Mandi, July 1
The Manali-Leh highway was blocked again near Koksar today following increase in the level of water in a rivulet, which inundated the road, making journey risky on this route.
The Border Roads Organisation was struggling to divert the course of water for the safe traffic movement, which was posing difficulties for commuters.
The Gramphu-Kaza road via the Kunzum Pass had also been blocked since morning following a massive landslide near Dorni Mod.
Tourists visiting Leh-Ladakh are a harried lot due to traffic jams and bumpy roads because of the incessant rain for the last three days, damaging the road at various places.
BRO Commander Colonel AK Awasthi said the workforce had been deployed at both places to clear the road for smooth traffic.
“We are trying to divert the water course of the rivulet near Koksar. We are hopeful that till evening both routes will be cleared,” he remarked.
These days Manali-Leh and Gramphu-Kaza Spiti roads were experiencing a huge rush of tourist vehicles because tourists prefer to visit on this route to Leh Ladakh or Spiti after opening of Rohtang Pass, the gateway to tribal district of Lahaul-Spiti.
