Rs 47.5 crore released as relief to mishap victims

As many as 237 persons have died this monsoon and 66 deaths, including 46 persons who died in Kotrupi landslide, are related to weather, said Special Secretary, Disaster Management, DD Sharma, adding that Rs 47.50 crore had been released to all Deputy Commissioners to pay relief and compensation to all people affected by natural calamities.

“We have asked all DCs to ensure that the compensation was paid to each and every victim within three days and the amount is not deposited in banks,” he added. Shimla district got the maximum ex gratia payment of Rs 10.70 crore, followed by Kangra Rs 8 crore, Sirmaur and Chamba Rs 6 crore each, Mandi Rs 5 crore, Una Rs 3.50 crore, Hamirpur, Kullu and Solan Rs 2 crore each, Bilaspur Rs 1 crore, Kinnaur Rs 80 lakh and Lahaul and Spiti Rs 50 lakh. — TNS
