MANDI: Irrigation and Public Health (IPH) Minister Mahender Singh Thakur said that to deal with drought-like situation and for better crop output, the state government has sent a Rs-4,751 crore rain harvesting plan for approval to the Centre.

Irrigation and Public Health (IPH) Minister Mahender Singh Thakur said that to deal with drought-like situation and for better crop output, the state government has sent a Rs-4,751 crore rain harvesting plan for approval to the Centre.

The minister was here in his Assembly segment at Dharampur in Mandi district to inaugurate a few development projects, which have been completed. He inaugurated the school building of Government Senior Secondary School, Longni, constructed at a cost of Rs 31.51 lakh. He inaugurated the construction work of the Longni-Trembla road to be constructed at a cost of Rs 15 lakh.

Addressing a public meeting at Longni, the minister said due to climate change the ground water level was receding rapidly, which had direct impact on natural sources of water. The government was chalking out a strategy to improve water situation effectively. TNS
