Una, October 21
State BJP president Satpal Singh Satti today filed his nomination as the BJP candidate from Una segment. Industries Minister Mukesh Agnihotri too filed his papers as a Congress nominee from the Haroli segment.
Accompanied by Lok Sabha MP Anurag Thakur, Satti led a roadshow from Santoshgarh to Una via Mehatpur. Addressing a party workers’ gathering near the Rotary Chowk in Una, he said the Congress had no moral right to contest the Una seat since the ruling party had sidelined the segment for the last five years in all development activities.
Congress candidate from Una, Satpal Raizada too filed his nomination papers in a similar pattern as that of Satti. He also led a roadshow in which Congress workers and sympathisers participated, raising slogans in favour of the party.
Raizada said Satpal Satti had miserably failed as an MLA of the Una segment, which he had been representing for the past 15 years. He claimed that no major development had taken place in the segment, he urged the people to give him a chance to represent the segment.
At Haroli, Mukesh Agnihotri led a procession of party workers from the PWD Rest House to the open ground in Kangar village where he addressed the supporters and thanked them for their continued support for the past 15 years, during which he had represented the segment. He charged that the Narendra Modi-led NDA government had made all efforts to throttle the flow of development funds in Una district, particularly in the Haroli segment.
