The selection process for more than 2,300 posts has been delayed in the state.

Sources said the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) was unable to continue with the selection process as the model code of conduct was still in force.

The sources said the SSC was to complete the selection process in three phases — scrutiny of applications, written test and calculation of awards to various categories — as the government had abolished the interviews for Class III and IV posts.

It was learnt that the result of the skill test was put on hold for 335 posts of clerk and 90 posts of steno. Apart from these, the selection process of 1,148 posts of office assistant was also put on hold.

The SSC had also initiated the selection process for nearly 1,248 posts, including pump operator, senior lab technician, lab assistant, supervisor LDR, Ayurvedic pharmacist, supervisor and language, drawing, physical education and Shastri teachers.

Dr Jitender Kanwar, Secretary, SSC, said that commission had requested the Chief Election Commission, Himachal Pradesh, for permission to continue with the selection process as it would help the SSC to complete the process as soon as the election process in the state was over. The results could be declared as soon as the model code of conduct was lifted in the state, he added.
