Shimla, May 16

The SFI and the ABVP on Wednesday submitted their memorandum and seminar report on RUSA to the member of reconsideration committee on RUSA Prof Sunil Gupta.

Stating that students are facing problems under RUSA system, the SFI listed 13 points in its memorandum and advocated rollback RUSA system, replacement of semester system by yearly system of education and abolition of choice-based credit system.

Joint secretary and vice president of SFI state committee Dinit Denta and Saurabh Kundal said that teaching should not exceed five hours, college administration must take responsibility to fill the examination forms of regular students, marks of Environment Studies should be included in the aggregate and facility of re-evaluation at graduation level should be provided.

The other suggestions included filling of all vacant posts of teaching and non-teaching staff, implementation of central schedule, improving basic infrastructure and abolishing the internal assessment system.

Meanwhile, the ABVP leaders, who lodged a protest against the semester system outside the office of Director Higher Education, also submitted the report of seminar conducted on RUSA.

The ABVP leaders, who were also opposing RUSA system earlier and demanding its rollback, said all the students, teachers and parents, who participated in the seminar, unanimously opposed the semester system. ABVP state secretary Hema Thakur threatened to launch statewide agitation against the government in case the annual examination system is not started from  June. — TNS
