Shimla, April 19
Six persons, including three women, were killed on the spot while two others suffered injuries when the Bolero (HP 08A-0635) they were travelling in rolled down 300-ft deep gorge near Ranvi village in Chaupal of Shimla district on Thursday afternoon.
The vehicle, carrying eight persons, was on its way to Nerwa from Pauri. The deceased have been identified as Sunil (32), son of Narender Singh from Gajtari village, Rajinder Gajta (58), son of Mangat Ram from Burech village, Kalawati (47), wife of Ravinder Singh, a resident of Ranvi village, Shanta Devi (55), wife of Nathu Ram, a resident of Poran village, Devi Singh (65), son of Debu Ram from Ranvi village, and Kalpna (45), wife of Jay Lal from Poran village. All were from the Pauri area in Chaupal.
The injured, Paras and Arun (driver), were rushed to the Nerwa hospital, from where Paras was referred to the IGMC. The police said the cause of the accident was yet to be ascertained.
A case under Sections 279, 337 and 304 has been registered.
