Shimla, May 30

The Shimla Municipal Corporation (SMC) today unanimously passed a resolution congratulating residents for inclusion of the capital city in the list of smart cities.

Shimla MC Deputy Mayor Tikender Panwar, who chaired the House meeting, today said the public tap norms committee submitted its report on public taps, which was unanimously passed. “The public taps will be payable and a cluster of five houses will be able to apply for the same,” he added.

He further said applications for parking would be soon made available to tourists so that local people and tourists could have access to parking lots. This would ensure that tourists were not fleeced, he added. He said a resolution to create additional posts of over 116 sanitary workers, inspectors and other staff was also passed.

He said the MC band would be displayed in the rotary town hall stairs every Saturday to entrain the tourists. The performances would be given by different schools of the city, he added.

He said in consonance with the Red Cross, the MC would provide clothes to newborns in the Kamla Nehra hospital. Panwar said developmental works comprising sewer line projects in ward no. 15, 16, 21 and 24 worth Rs 4.04 crore were also passed unanimously.

Similarly, the resolution to get pump machinery worth Rs 23 lakh for the Snowdon pump house and car parking worth Rs 1.4 crore at Sabzi Mandi, Rs 11.3 lakh for MC road resurfacing in ward no. 8 were also passed unanimously today.
