CHAMBA: The recent heavy snowfall has caused a loss of around Rs 5.50 crore to public and private properties in Chamba district which included Rs 3.22 crore to the roads network.

The recent heavy snowfall has caused a loss of around Rs 5.50 crore to public and private properties in Chamba district which included Rs 3.22 crore to the roads network.

Giving this information here today, Deputy Commissioner of Chamba Sudesh Mokhta said officials had been pressed into action to keep the essential services such as electricity, water supply, restoration of roads, transport services and food supplies in the snow-covered areas in order.

The DC said Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) has been asked to be on their toes to deal with any natural calamity occurring due to heavy snowfall and rain.

Meanwhile, it was a sunny day today after four days of snowfall and rain. Life in the district is now limping back to normalcy. However, cold wave conditions are prevalent in the district.
