The HP University Teachers Welfare Association (HPUTWA) has sought the intervention of the Governor over the double standards allegedly adopted by the Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) Vice-Chancellor in the recruitment of teachers.

It also asked VC ADN Bajpai to follow the UGC guidelines and not act as agent of any political party.

In a letter addressed to the VC, DR Thakur, general secretary of HPUTWA, alleged that it was strange that the university which claimed that the interviews held in 2012 under UGC regulations were in violation of UGC norms, is now making recruitments on the basis of same guidelines. “Either the university should admit that the interviews conducted in 2012 were correct as per the norms or the university is conducting the interviews this time in violation of the UGC norms”.

He pointed out that the HPU had filed three affidavits in the High Court, maintaining that the interviews conducted in 2012 were in violation of norms and should be quashed, but now it is holding interviews for recruitment of teachers by adopting the same norms and urged the High Court to take cognisance of the false affidavit filed by the university.

The HPTUWA will expose the unlawful activities of the university and also informed the President, Prime Minister and Union HRD Ministry and UGC for taking action, he added.

The HPUTWA also sought the intervention of the Governor, who is also the Chancellor of the university, and the state government for applying dual set of norms and threaten to launch a statewide agitation if the university did not exercise restraint.
