Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Prakash Javadekar today blamed the Virbhadra Singh government for delay in setting up of the twin campus of Central University, Dehra and Dharamsala.

He said though the Centre had given timely approval for it, the state did not release CAMPA funds on time.

Responding to queries from mediapersons here today, Javadekar blamed the state government for the delay in setting up of the Central University campus as the CAMPA fund was not released by the state on time.

“The twin campus will come up at both Dehra and Dharamsala and the Chief Minister is telling lies when it comes to Central grants or approval for projects or funds to the state,” he said.

He was at the Indian Institute of Advanced Study here to preside over a meeting of the Council of National Institutes of Technology, Science Education and Research, which was attended by heads of NITs across the country.

Javadekar evaded all queries on sensitive issues, including CBI charge sheet against senior BJP leaders involved in the Babri Masjid demolition case and Saharanpur caste feud and Kashmir problem, and heaped praises on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s three years rule saying that it was a day of completion of the corruption-free governance of the NDA government at the Centre. “The country voted for Modi, he restored their confidence in governance and delivered what he had promised,” he added.

Taking a dig at the UPA government by pointing out the Commonwealth Games and coal block auction scam, Javadekar claimed the Opposition could not level a single charge of corruption on the NDA government in its three years rule. He said barring a temporary shortage of pulses due to drought, the economy was in the upswing, inflation and prices of commodities were under control and new schemes launched for farmers to double their income in five years time were well received.

He said the hunt for a regular director of the Indian Institute of Advanced Studies was on, however, the HRD Minister did not give any timeframe for this.
