The state ranks second in e-governance in the country and will receive an award from Union Minister of Communication and Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad on Good Governance Day in Delhi tomorrow.
Digital India Week was celebrated from July 1 to 7, 2015, and its main objective was to reach out to residents. A number of events were organised during the week, the government spokesperson said.
Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh had launched Digital India Week by commissioning seven services under the e-district programme which included registration of birth, death and marriage certificates.
He said the Aadhaar Permanent Enrolment Centre, e-Vidhan, Mandi tourism mobile apps and MyDiary mobile app were also launched, besides a workshop on cyber security was held and a number of awareness counters were set up throughout the state to apprise the residents of various services.
A quiz on e-governance and information technology were also held in schools.
The spokesperson said digital lockers of around 11,000 residents were opened during the week.
He said that all event photos and videos were uploaded on the portal and these have been evaluated by the DeitY, GoI for deciding the Best performing States and Districts of the country.
He said the IT Department, National Informatics Centre, HP and CSCs had actively participated to create awareness about various e-governance aspects. He said Sirmaur, Shimla and Una districts would also be awarded for being best contributing districts.
