State to have film policy

SHIMLA: The government will soon formulate a film policy to attract producers to picturesque locales in the state.

Shimla, July 10

The government will soon formulate a film policy to attract producers to picturesque locales in the state.

A meeting in this regard was held here on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Shrikant Baldi.

Baldi said the government was making all efforts to develop Himachal as the foremost destination for film production in the country. “The state has several heritage, spiritual, seasonal and unexplored destinations. Efforts are being made to attract filmmakers,” he said.

He said the cultural, mythological, historical heritage and glorious traditions of the state would be publicised in a big way to attract investment in the film industry.

“The production of regional films based on Himachali dialects will be encouraged and the government will provide various incentives to producers,” he said. — TNS
