The HP High Court has directed the Union Ministry of Transport and Highways to file a status report on 69 “In Principle” declared national highways in the tabulated form indicating therein the action taken by it for the execution and completion of these roads.
While passing this direction, a division bench comprising acting Chief Justice Sanjay Karol and Justice Ajay Mohan Goel listed the matter for further hearing on July 13.
On the previous date of hearing the state had informed through its status report that certain actions in the matter have to be taken by the Union Ministry of Road Transport & Highways.
After perusing the same, the court had told the Union Ministry to file status report.
In another case, the court directed the railway authorities to file an affidavit disclosing the status regarding construction of a multi-story parking at railway godown below Winter Field, near old bus stand, Shimla.
During the course of hearing, the counsel for the railway authorities informed the court that the tender for the project had been opened on June 29 and the process of finalizing the same is in progress.
He said the entire process would be completed within a period of three weeks. The court passed this order on a PIL highlighting the issue of parking and traffic jam near old bus stand.
