Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today directed deputy commissioners to submit a report on the utilisation of funds sanctioned by the Local Area Development Authority.

At the 16th state-level Gaddi Welfare Board meeting, the Chief Minister announced Rs 20 lakh for the construction of the boundary wall of the Tribal Bhavan at Dari in Dharamsala.

Virbhadra said science classes would be started at Government Senior Secondary School in Garola, Chamba. He asked officials if Government Middle School in Fagot had been upgraded. The Chief Minister said science classes would also be started in GSSS, Utrala.

He said the state government was spending a sum of Rs 2.62 crore on imparting training in handicraft to the youth, honing their skills so that they could earn a livelihood.

Virbhadra said a sum of Rs 950 per month was also being given to them as stipend.

He directed the authorities to provide funds for the construction of sheep washing farm at Hadsar and for the renovation of the farm in Bandla Surad, Palampur.

“About 924 villages will be developed,” he said. Virbhadra directed the SPs to provide protection cover to Gaddis in winter.

The Chief Minister directed the Public Works Department to construct the road to Dadi Mata in Darati and inspect it within 10 days.

He also directed the department to conduct a survey for constructing a bypass from Bhagsunag to Chohla in Dharamsala and submit an estimate of the Alennalli-Bathri-Malunda road. He asked officials to take measures for providing tents to sheep breeders in Palampur, Bandla, Kandwadi, Rakh, Jiya, Ladrala, Dhunets and Gharot.

The Chief Minister also directed them to install hand pumps in Indora, where more than 95 per cent of the ST/SC population resides. A decision to provide a sum of Rs 5 lakh to lay new pipelines from Dibri to Gonth village in Bharmour was taken. Two hand pumps will be installed in Sihnwa and Kangra.
