Tata group at state’s door with a slew of proposals

The Tata group showed interest in manufacturing, tourism, agriculture, infrastructure and power sectors in the state at a meeting held here today between representatives of the Tata group and key departments of the government under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary (Industries) RD Dhiman.

The representatives of the Tata group disclosed that they would take a decision after studying the viability of investment.

The group showed interest in investing in defence equipment in collaboration with global companies, ready-to-drink beverages for export in the manufacturing sector, luxury high-end tourist resorts with all facilities and ropeways in the tourism sector, tea in the agriculture sector and housing, commercial projects and tunnels on the PPP model, waste management, water purification and solar streetlights in the urban areas in the infrastructure sector. It has also indicated to invest in the hydel power generation.

The representatives also said Mount Everest Water Limited, which had its natural mineral water plant at Dhaula Kuan village, Paonta Sahib, stood amalgamated with Tata Coffee & Tata Global Beverages Limited and they were in the process of submitting a proposal for substantial expansion of this plant.

Dhiman said it was decided during the meeting that the sector specific experts of the Tata group would visit the state and hold a series of meetings with the departments and agencies of the state government.

He informed the group about the key initiatives taken by the state government for doing business and assured it the best cooperation to facilitate investment of the Tata group in the state.
