Teacher held for molesting minor

A Class VI student of Government Middle School near Kali Bari temple on Thursday alleged that her teacher had been molesting her for the past one-and-a-half year.

The issue came to light when the girl had a heated exchange with the teacher in the classroom.

As the news travelled, the parents of the minor also reached school and demanded strict punishment for the teacher.

The parents and the teacher indulged in a verbal duel and they lodged a protest following which the police reached the spot.

In a complaint given to the police, the minor victim said the teacher had been molesting her and had indulged in vulgar acts. Sources said this was not the first case against the teacher as he had earlier also apologised for such an act.

The police have registered a case under Sections 354 of the IPC and Section 8 and 12 of the POCSO Act and arrested the accused.
