Thakur announces Rs 2.5 lakh aid for Rohru fire victims

SHIMLA: A sum of Rs 2.50 lakh will be provided to each family for the construction of houses and adequate funds be released for the road to Kashaini village, said Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, who visited the village in Rohru to meet the affected families whose houses were gutted on Tuesday night.

A sum of Rs 2.50 lakh will be provided to each family for the construction of houses and adequate funds be released for the road to Kashaini village, said Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, who visited the village in Rohru to meet the affected families whose houses were gutted on Tuesday night.

The victims would be provided timber. He directed the Irrigation and Public Health Department to take effective steps for the augmentation of drinking water supply to the village.

He said the district administration had provided an immediate relief of Rs 10,000 each to the victims, besides making a provision for community kitchen.

The state government would provide financial assistance for the marriage of a girl of the victim family whose marriage was scheduled in next few days.

Thakur said the government would identify suitable place for the construction of houses at Kashaini, however, if fire affected families were willing to reconstruct their houses at the same place, then it would make the provision of road up to this village. He urged social organisations to come forward for the help of these families.

Local MLA Narender Bragta, Mayor, Shimla Municipal Corporation, Kusum Sadret, Chairman, State Cooperative Bank Khushi Ram Balnatah were also present.
