Thieves flee with jewellery, Rs 50,000

NURPUR: In broad daylight, a theft was committed at a locked house in Ward No 4 in the town today.

In broad daylight, a theft was committed at a locked house in Ward No 4 in the town today. Thieves decamped with gold jewellary worth Rs eight lakh and Rs 50,000 in cash kept in the cupboard.

As per the police information, the house owner, Dilbag Singh, is a government school teacher who left for school at 9 am after locking his house and no family member was present in the house during the day when the theft took place. When he came back at 3.15 pm he found the main gate of the house opened. After entering the house, he found the lock of the room and cupboard inside the room were broken and jewellary kept in the cupboard was also missing.

Meghnath, DSP, Nurpur, said a case under Sections 457 and 380 had been registered in this connection. An estimated lossof over Rs 8.50 lakh has been reported by the police.
