Shimla, March 17

Shimla Deputy Commissioner Amit Kashyap today issued guidelines to educational institutions for ensuring safety of students during picnics and tours.

“Educational institutions will have to take a written permission from the district administration before going on a tour/picnic so that in case of emergency, immediate assistance can be provided,” he said.

The DC added that a list of contact number of parents or guardians and students’ adult ratio must be prepared and that the institutions should physically check papers of vehicles or buses provided by travel agents.

“Safety gears are a must during camping,” he said. The tours must be executed through registered travel agents or companies under the Tourism Department. They should have a proper medical kit, good food and be able to ensure girls’ safety.

At amusement parks, students should be briefed about safety measures before taking dangerous rides.
