Residents have welcomed the move of the Centre for sanctioning a Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) for Nurpur.
The government had given its nod to six new KVs in the state. Rakesh Pathania, local MLA, said here that he had submitted two proposals for the land identified for this purpose to the Secretary, Education. He said 110 kanal had been identified at Chakvan in Baduee gram panchayat and another 100 kanal was selected in Ganhi Lagor gram panchayat near Nurpur.
Pathania said a KV was a long-standing demand in the area and it was his dream project. He said education, health and water were his top priority for his constituency. As per information, the normal requirement of land for setting up a KV is 12.5 acre, but in view of the hill state, it has been reduced to 2.5 acre.Zila parishad members and local social organisations have hailed the decision of the Jai Ram Thakur government for setting up of a KV here.
