Unions to back truckers' strike from July 20

SOLAN: The All-Himachal Truck Operators Federation will lend support to the indefinite nationwide strike of truckers proposed from July 20 in support of abnormal hike and daily revision of diesel rates and other key issues.

The All-Himachal Truck Operators Federation will lend support to the indefinite nationwide strike of truckers proposed from July 20 in support of abnormal hike and daily revision of diesel rates and other key issues.

At a meeting held today by representatives of 19 truck unions from the state at Nalagarh, members said they would not ply trucks during the strike. They said they did not believe in halting the traffic movement but would support the strike.

They also elected Vidya Rattan as the chairman and Naresh Gupta as president, besides other office-bearers.

Vidya Rattan said the unions were demanding quarterly revision of diesel rates and emphasised that it should be brought under the GST so that its rates were uniform through the nation.
