State BJP general secretary and MLA Randhir Sharma today lashed out at Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh for blaming his political opponents for the cases and CBI inquiries that he was facing.

Addressing a press conference here today, Sharma said the outburst by Sharma was a clear indication that the Chief Minister was frustrated and demoralised. “It is his old habit of making false accusations against his rivals while proclaiming that he was the most honest leader whose integrity was unquestionable,” he remarked.

The BJP leader reminded Virbhadra that the CBI had filed a case against him during the previous Congress-led UPA regime. “The people know the truth so it is futile for him to blame the BJP for the alleged corruption charges faced by him,” he said.

He warned that the people could not be fooled by registration of false cases which were politically motivated. He said since the Chief Minister was fearful of the CBI ordering a preliminary inquiry against him, he had started accusing the BJP leaders of similar acts.

He said Virbhadra’s threats that his government was considering handing over complaint against former Chief Minister PK Dhumal to the CBI or the State Vigilance were just threats, which was nothing new.

Sharma accused the Congress regime of selling pulses at higher enhanced rates for favouring the supplier. “The government must immediately cancel the tenders for the supply of pulses under the subsidised food scheme as it was the common man who was getting burdened,” he said. He said there was a huge difference in the rates of various pulses in Himachal and Haryana.

CM afraid of CBI probe: Opposition

Hamirpur: Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh is afraid of the CBI investigation, hence, trying to threat his political rivals to divert the attention of people of the state.

This was stated by former Education Minister Ishwar Dass Dhiman, BJP MLA Vijay Agnihotri and Narender Thakur in a joint statement here today.

The BJP leaders said it was evident from the statements of the Chief Minister that he was in hot waters and now trying to use lame tricks to keep his position. They said earlier, Punjab Congress leaders tried to trap former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, but had to apologise in the court for their wrong statements in the media.

They said that Chief Minister was allegedly involved in corruption during the UPA regime that led to his resignation from the union Cabinet berth.

However, the Chief Minister should clear his stand on the Bakamulla deal, they added. — OC
