Will take feedback from public ahead of poll: Satti

SHIMLA: Gearing up for Assembly elections in the state slated for November 2017, Himachal BJP will take feedback from the general public at the mandal level about the functioning of the state government, particularly the corruption and failures to fulfill the poll promises and incorporate the same in the charge sheet which will come handy in elections.

Will take feedback from public ahead of poll: Satti

“There is dearth of clean leaders in the Congress. Earlier senior party leader Kamal Nath, who was accused of involvement in the anti-Sikh riots in 1984, had to shun the responsibility and now he has been replaced by another tainted leader. Choices are difficult for the Congress which is fast losing “ — Satpal Singh Satti, state BJP chief

Gearing up for Assembly elections in the state slated for November 2017, Himachal BJP will take feedback from the general public at the mandal level about the functioning of the state government, particularly the corruption and failures to fulfill the poll promises and incorporate the same in the charge sheet which will come handy in elections.

“We would reach out to the people at grass-root level to know about their problems and grievances, claims about development works and ground reality and acts of commission and omission and incorporate these in the fresh charge-sheet to be submitted, ahead of Assembly polls”, state BJP chief Satpal Singh Satti told The Tribune.

Responsibilities have been entrusted to the state office-bearers to visit each mandal for two days and appraise the workers about the changes that are taking place in the organization, Satti said, adding that the BJP would go from door to door in all 73 mandals under the “contact programme” and adopt a two-pronged strategy to inform the people about the development projects, schemes and financial assistance given by Modi Government and highlight the failures of “corrupt” government in the state headed by Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh.

The campaign would be completed by December 31, 2016 and the feedback received would be used as “input” for chalking out the broad strategy for polls, drafting of manifesto and preparing campaign modules.

The party workers would also be given tips to effectively interact with the voters and teams would be formed at the booth level to remain in constant touch with the voters. Earlier, the party leaders used to spend a couple of hours to appraise the workers of the latest developments and trends in the party.

Replying to a question on selection of candidates for the ensuing Assembly polls, Satti said that public popularity, participation in organisational affairs and clean image are the parameters but the candidates would be decided by the election committee.

There are 7,382 polling booths under 17 organisational districts and 73 mandals of the BJP in the state and to assist the workers in legal matters advocates will be associated at booth level. Keeping in view that advocates may not be available for all the booths, one advocate could be given charge of a number of booths, he said.
