Jammu, March 1

The traffic movement on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway came to a standstill due to heavy rains which triggered shooting stones in Ramban district on Friday.

The traffic police issued a statement, mentioning that the traffic movement had been stopped on the highway due to shooting stones at Kishtwari Pather due to rainy weather. The travellers were advised to avoid journey on the highway till weather improves and the road is clear.

The UT witnessed snowfall on the higher reaches while the plains received rainfall which disrupted the normal life of the people. The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy to very heavy snow in the higher reaches of the Union Territory till March 3 as the maximum temperature dropped.

The Jammu Kashmir Disaster Management Authority also issued an avalanche advisory for various districts of the UT and asked local residents living in prone areas to remain vigilant.
