13 booked for protest

Phagwara: The police on Wednesday registered a case under Sections 283,427,148 and149 of the IPC against 13 persons-Rajinder Ghera, Kulwant Singh, Santokh Singh, Ajit Singh, Amrik Singh, Guljar Masih, Balkar Masih, Amritpal Singh, Satnam Singh, Surinder Singh, Bhindi, Romy and Dhanna.



The police on Wednesday  registered a case under Sections 283,427,148 and149 of the IPC against 13 persons-Rajinder Ghera, Kulwant Singh, Santokh Singh, Ajit Singh, Amrik Singh, Guljar Masih, Balkar Masih, Amritpal Singh, Satnam Singh, Surinder Singh, Bhindi, Romy and Dhanna. They were booked for holding a demonstration and blocking vehicular traffic on the Phagwara-Hoshiarpur road near Rawalpindi village in protest against a dump of waste material near Government Middle School in the village on Tuesday evening. Commuters faced inconvenience as they had to wait in long queues for three hours. 

Duping charges

The police have booked four persons, Surinder, Rohit, Angad and Preet, under Sections 420 and 406 of the IPC for allegedly duping a villager, Ankur Thakur, of Rs 60,000 on the pretext of sending him to Malaysia. —OC
