Jalandhar, September 19
The Sultanpur Lodhi police today arrested three persons, including a woman, in the murder case of Shingara Singh.
Stating this, DSP Sultanpur Lodhi Wariam Singh Khaira said Shingara Singh’s son Mastati Singh had lodged a complaint that some people had kidnapped his father from their house and had later killed him and thrown his body outside their house.
Khaira added that investigation in the case showed that Singh used to work in the fields of Jarnail Singh. Also, other accused Buta Singh, his wife Kulwinder Kaur, alias Rozy, used to work in the same fields. Rozy and Shingara Singh allegedly had an extra-marital affair.
On the night of September 16 when Rozy was sleeping with her family in Jarnail Singh’s haveli, Shingara Singh came to her house and started misbehaving with her.
At this, Rozy’s family, including her husband, began beating Singh with rods lying nearby. After beating him mercilessly, they tied him in a pit nearby and went to call Jarnail Singh. Meanwhile, their another neighbour Pappu came there and he too began to beat Shingara SIngh mercilessly, following which he became unconscious. Later, they all took Shingara Singh in a jeep and took him to a nearby doctor who declared him brought dead. DSP Wariyam Singh said the accused including Buta, Rozy and Pappu Kumar Jha had been arrested in the case. — TNS
