3-day philately camp concludes

JALANDHAR: A three day philately summer camp for children organised by the Postal Division, Jalandhar, concluded here on Saturday.

A three day philately summer camp for children organised by the Postal Division, Jalandhar, concluded here on Saturday.

The aim behind organising the camp was to revive the importance of philately among children. The children were asked to design their own stamps. A letter writing competition was also held in order to make the children well-versed with witting letters in this era of e-mail and whatsapp.

A quiz based on philately was also held in which children were asked questions related to the philately and eminent philatelists. Children were awarded with certificates, trophies and stamp stock books for participating in the camp.

Mohammad Hanif, Senior Superintendent of Post Office (SSPO), Jalandhar, said, “Such camps give students a chance to exhibit their talent and learn something new. We have tried making student’s relaise the importance of philately and how eminent philatelists have contributed a lot to the art of philately”.

The camp was organised at the Head Post Office here under the supervision of the officials of the post office. Assistant Superintendent of Post Office, Ravi Puri, philatelist NK Khera, Postal Assistant, Meenu Kalia, Madhu and Balwinder Singh, among others, were also present on the occasion.
