JALANDHAR: The Rural police today arrested four persons in connection with the murder case of a 52-year-old migrant woman.

Jalandhar, September 20

The Rural police today arrested four persons in connection with the murder case of a 52-year-old migrant woman. Victim, Girja Devi, a resident of Hailran village in Lambra, was found murdered in the fields near her house on September 18.

The accused have been identified as Chhotu Dass Sharma (35), Vikas (27), Biru (19) and Matlesh Kumar (19).

The police said the accused had raped the victim and then murdered her. She, along with her family members, was celebrating the birthday party of her grandson at her house on September 17. After the party, she went missing.

The police said there was a dispute between the families of the victim and accused at Rajni Dheri village in Bihar and due to the enmity, the accused murdered her.

SSP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said during the birthday party, a scuffle broke out between victim’s son Dalip Dass and Chhotu Dass. Thereafter, the accused left the party and tried to steal a cow and the victim saw them. Later, they raped her. — TNS
