5 suffer burn injuries

GARHSHANKAR (HOSHIARPUR): Five persons, including four youths, returning from a fair near Sadarpur village on their bikes and a tractor driver ploughing land, were injured when tall grass on roadside caught fire on Sunday evening.

Five persons, including four youths, returning from a fair near Sadarpur village on their bikes and a tractor driver ploughing land, were injured when tall grass on roadside caught fire on Sunday evening.

They were taken to the local Civil Hospital, from where, owing to the serious condition of one of the injured, he was referred to the PGI, Chandigarh. After the Forest Department got the information about the incident, the Fire Brigade was called to control the flames.

As per information, Sarabjit Singh, a resident of Sadarpur, Charno, wife of Raj and resident of Bhangla, in Nawanshahr district, were on their bike. On the other bike, Amritpal, a resident of Chandpur Rurki in Nawanshahr district, and Kulwinder Singh, a resident of Chakta Raunta, were coming from the fair. Near Sadarpur, the tall grass on roadside was on fire and they came under the cover of the smoke and fell off from their bikes, colliding with each other. They all suffered burn injuries.

Lakhpreet Singh, a resident of Sadarpur, who was ploughing his field with his tractor, also got scorched by the fire and was badly injured. The villagers took them all for treatment to the Civil Hospital in Garhshankar.
