521 cadets take part in 10-day camp

HOSHIARPUR: A 10-day annual training camp organised by the 12 Punjab Battalion NCC, Hoshiarpur, concluded at Sant Baba Bhag Singh University, Padhiana, today.

Hoshiarpur, August 18

A 10-day annual training camp organised by the 12 Punjab Battalion NCC, Hoshiarpur, concluded at Sant Baba Bhag Singh University, Padhiana, today. As many as 521 NCC cadets, including 255 girl cadets, from various colleges and schools of the Doaba region attended the camp.

Cadets were taught handling of weapons, drill, map reading, first aid and other defence-related issues. Leadership qualities were also imparted to the cadets. A comprehensive exercise to make them less dependent on cellphones and help carry out their work without mobiles was also conducted.

Apart from seminars and workshops, a lecture on hygiene was also organised during the camp. The aim of the camp was to provide experience of teamwork so that the cadets can get self-discipline and integrity values to develop the art of leadership.

Moreover, the selected cadets from the camp will also participate in the Republic Day parade for which training has started.

The 12 Punjab Battalion NCC also organised career counselling and skill building sessions with an aim to make the cadets self-reliant.

Commanding Officer Col JS Sohi said, “The camp was organised to provide experience of team work to the cadets so that they can get self–discipline and integrity values. The camp will also help them in understanding their responsibility to society and nation. The cadets were also selected for national competitions.”

The cadets were also awarded with medals at the closing ceremony.
