In a major jolt to the BJP in Phagwara, nearly 75 families committed to the party led by senior vice president of Panchtaa Block today left the party and announced to extend full support to Congress candidate Joginder Singh Mann.

Welcoming them in the party fold, Mann said it was the first “gift” to the probable BJP candidate. He said soon Phagwara would be made a “BJP-free” town as a number of other leaders were in touch with party members to join the Congress. Mann said that the days of SAD-BJP alliance in the state were numbered as people were fed up from oppressive policies of the alliance. Welcoming block vice-president Surjit Singh to the party fold Mann said that he would be given due respect in the party.
