The co-producer of the film “Nil Batte Sannata” and his father have got registered an FIR against actress of Hindi-Punjabi films Surveen Chawla, her husband and brother for cheating them and for a fraud of Rs 40 lakh.

Advocate Naveen Jairath, co-producer Pankaj Gupta and his father Satpal Gupta, while addressing reporters here in the Press Club, today showed the copies of the FIR against the three accused.

Hoshiarpur resident businessman Satpal Gupta said Manavinder Singh (brother of Surveen Chawla) was known to his son Pankaj and that he had introduced them to Surveen Chawla and her husband Akshay Thakkar. He said Surveen Chawla, Manvinder Singh and Akshay Thakkar worked together for making films. They met him in the year 2014 and said that they were making the film “Nil Batte Sannata” in collaboration with JAR Pictures Mumbai. They told them that if they gave Rs 1 crore as a loan for making the film, they could earn good money on the release of the film. Gupta said he agreed to give them Rs 51 lakh, but when transferred, a transaction of Rs 11 lakh failed due to some technical reason and Rs 40 lakh were transferred to the account of JAR Pictures. Gupta said the three accused remained in close contact till the film was completed and before the film was released, Surveen Chawla kept meeting his son with regard to the film.

Meanwhile, Surveen Chawla took the responsibility that Rs 70 lakh would be returned to them in six months after the release of the film. The film was released on April 22, 2016, after which the three accused remained in touch with Pankaj through e-mail and during this time, their attitude changed completely and even after repeatedly asking for the film’s accounts, they did not provide them information about the accounts. They then procured information on their own and were surprised that the loan amount of Rs 40 lakh in the account statement of the film was mentioned as given by Akshay Thakkar.
