After the removal of barricades by the administration and reinstallation by residents of Chakk Mirpur village on Saturday, the administration today striked again this afternoon to remove the barricades raised again by the residents.

Amidst heavy deployment of police force, the barricades were removed and taken away by putting them in a trolley with help of JCB machine.

Residents of the village, especially women, resented the removal of the barricades and had heated arguments with the police.

For the second consecutive day, heavy police force, led by DSP Mukerian, reached the village and deployed force on all the roads connecting the village, restricting anyone going to village.

As the police team entered the village, residents gathered and stopped them restricting the JCB and other machinery to reach the barricades.

People were adamant that they would not let the barricades be removed.

Unlike Saturday, the police did not left the barricades there, but took them away putting the removed barricades in a tractor-trolley.

People confronted the move saying that they had got the barricades prepared by contributing themselves, so they won’t let the team take them away.

The police officials persuaded them that they would find a way to return it to them.

Dharminder Singh, secretary of the Khannan Roko Zameen Bachao Sangharsh Committee, Hajipur, said “ We will not tolerate this action. The committee will hold a meeting tomorrow to decide the further course of action. One thing is clear that we will not let even a single truck, tipper or trolley loaded with sand or gravel pass through the village at any cost.”
