Even after 37 days of the attack on the house of Mothada Kalan’s Dalit sarpanch Kanti Mohan, the Phillaur Police could not nab the accused involved in the midnight firing. The sarpanch managed to escape unhurt but over 12 armed miscreants fled away after firing on the intervening night of April18-19, Now, after knocking the doors of various officers and SC Commission National Commission For Scheduled Castes, Punjab, the complaint of the victim Sarpanch Kanti Mohan written Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar and SSP (Rural) Jalandhar have shown results as they have been asked to send detailed report and action taken against the accused. Notably, the victim has alleged that these armed accused were being patronised by the senior Akali leaders, including former minister Sarwan Singh Phillaur and Chief Parliamentary Secretary Avinash Chander and their family members. Sarpanch alleged that the police was working under pressure of ruling politicians as only two out of total 23 accused could be nabbed in 37 days and one accused NRI succeeded to fly abroad. He even demanded security cover for his family.
