Aum Gupta, a student of Class IX, of Police DAV Public School, bagged the second prize in Class IX category in the BSE International Financial Olympiad organised by Eduheal Foundation and Bombay Stock Exchange in Mumbai on April 13.
The first round of the BSE International Financial Olympiad covered students from almost 600 schools across the nation. A large number of students participated in the competition spread over 12 months.
The online test was the elimination test in which only 108 students qualified for the grand finale and then the final round progressed through two stages. In the first stage a preliminary written test was held from which only five students qualified for the next round. The winners were decided on the basis of their performance in both first and second round and the top three in each class were awarded prizes.
Aum was among the top five in Class IX category, whereas Akul was in top five in Class X category. Aum was awarded a cash prize of Rs 8,000, a gold medal and a certificate and Akul Goyal was awarded a cash prize of Rs 6,000, a medal and a certificate.
Two other students Harshit Sikka of Class XII and Namanpreet Kaur of Class XI had also qualified for the final round and competed in the final round.
Aum said he had topped in Maths Olympiad organised by DAVCMC few months ago in all DAV school across the country.
Principal, Police DAV Public School, Dr Rashmi Vij said, “It is an initiative by Edu-heal to extend financial literacy to the school level through this innovative and educative national level financial quiz competition which was held every year. It was a proud moment this time for the school as we got two positions in the top five.”
Even the winners feel that this competition has helped them a lot in knowing about the financial world of the country and key business persons engaged in it, she added.
