Bhandari, Kalia file nomination

JALANDHAR: It was a show of strength for both defending BJP MLAs Manoranjan Kalia (Central) and KD Bhandari from Jalandhar (North) as they came walking to the offices of their respective returning officers for filing their nomination papers.

It was a show of strength for both defending BJP MLAs Manoranjan Kalia (Central) and KD Bhandari from Jalandhar (North) as they came walking to the offices of their respective returning officers for filing their nomination papers.

While Bhandari began his journey after paying obeisance at Mata Chintpurni temple. Kalia, accompanied by his two sisters Nandini and Mohini, went on to file his nomination.

While Kalia has curtailed down his bank accounts from eight to five, his net worth of movable assets too has come down from Rs 1.25 crore in 2012 to Rs 67 lakh in 2016. 

Also, while he had shown his immovable assets to be worth Rs 1.34 crore during the last elections, a blank was left by the defending MLA this time.

Kalia showed Rs 1.08 lakh as liability towards government dues last time, it was also left blank this time. Bhandari, meanwhile, showed his net movable assets at Rs 30 lakh only. 

His wife Neena Bhandari was shown having movable assets worth Rs 20 lakh. 

While Bhandari himself has shown his immobile assets worth Rs 40 lakh, his wife was shown to be having immobile assets worth Rs 1.70 crore. 

The couple has shown nil liability in the nomination forms.
