Businessman gets threat call

JALANDHAR:A city businessman allegedly got a threat call from gangster Laurence Bishnoi who demanded Rs 10 lakh from the former to save his life.

Jalandhar, February 19

A city businessman allegedly got a threat call from gangster Laurence Bishnoi who demanded Rs 10 lakh from the former to save his life.

Bishnoi had made headlines recently when he openly threatened Bollywood superstar Salman Khan to kill him. Lawrence Bishnoi’s death threat to Salman was being linked to the black buck killing case of 1998, in which the filmstar and his co-actors are accused. In a statement given to the police, the businessman, who runs a mobile phone business in the city, alleged that he had received two WhatsApp messages where a person, introducing himself as the gangster, demanded the  ransom. The businessman also received an Internet call from him in which the caller, again introducing himself as Bishnoi, said that he was calling from a prison in Jodhpur and demanded the ransom.

Scared, the businessman informed the police, which on investigation, found that Bishnoi was not lodged in the Jodhpur jail. According to Police Commissioner Praveen Sinha, the team is investigating the origin of the Internet call which seemed to be routed either from India or abroad.
