Career awareness camp on armed forces held at Sainik School, Kapurthala

JALANDHAR:An awareness camp was held at the Sainik School, Kapurthala, here in which about 1,000 students from across the district came here today.

An awareness camp was held at the Sainik School, Kapurthala, here in which about 1,000 students from across the district came here today.

Held to motivate the students to join the armed forces through the National Defence Academy, the camp also saw an exhibition of weapon which saw enthusiastic visits from the students. 

An impressive display of Air Force and NCC models was also put up on the occasion. Among the models displayed, there were tanks and warfare vehicles as well. 

The display of BMT personal carriers used by the mechanised infantry, especially for quick mobility, attracted the attention of the students. 

The young students were also invited to ride atop army tanks. A presentation was also held on the occasion in which the students were told about career prospects in the Army, Air Force and the Navy. 

The students recieved tips on ways to join the armed forces from the chief commander NR Babu of the 38 Infantry Brigade who was also the chief guest on the occasion.

Principal, Sainik School, Kapurthala, Group Captain Shakti Sharma (the first woman principal of a Sainik School ) as well as vice-principal Lieutenant Colonel Smita Mishra informed students about the importance of the armed forces and the way they could join them and answered their various queries.

On the occasion three films - about Sainik School, a movie on NDA and the third about the Air Force - were also screened for the students present.

Handouts and pamphlets were also ditributed among students to soread awateness on the issue.
