Centre for keyhole surgery starts at PIMS

JALANDHAR: A centre of excellence for laparoscopic surgery was inaugurated at the department of surgery of the Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).



Jalandhar, February 9 

A centre of excellence for laparoscopic surgery was inaugurated at the department of surgery of the Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS). Resident Director, PIMS, Dr Kanwaljit Singh and Director Principal Dr Kulbir Kaur inaugurated the centre. This institution will impart training to graduates and postgraduates in times to come, under the guidance of Dr Rajneesh Kumar of the department of surgery, who is in charge of minimal access surgery. 

In future, basic laparoscopy course and advance laparoscopic procedures like hernia, hysterectomy and endosuturing on the lines of the AIIMS, Delhi, will be started. During the inauguration, Dr Ravindra Katoch, Subash Goyal and Dr Kulbir Kaur, principal, were present. —TNS
