Celebrity chef Harpal Singh Sokhi, who is popularly known across the world for his jingle “Namak Shamak dal dete hain”, was in the city to inaugurate the opening ceremony of a club lounge and restaurant for which he has also been made the brand ambassador. While inaugurating the new venture called De Nuevo club lounge that is aimed at bringing together all facets of a fashionable lifestyle including food, drinks, and music he said, “Today people have become more cautious about what they are having in their meals therefore, restaurant owners along with a touch of modernity should also take care of their choices.”

Talking to “The Jalandhar Tribune” he expressed his views about how the trend of eateries and cooking was changing in our society. He said Punjab which was widely known for its food had evolved itself over time in consuming a mix of “Deshi-Videshi” food. While referring to the De Nuevo, he said, he never thought that the city could also have a hangout spot that had been made keeping in mind the likes and dislikes of both youth and elderly people. The lounge that is contrived on the theme, “Relive their life again and again” has an amazing ambience that will help the city to have its own newly fashioned lounge.

On the trend of students going to foreign countries for learning cooking he said, “Over a period of time cooking has evolved and people have started looking at it with respect. So it is excellent if the talented youth is going overseas to learn new cuisines. Moreover, India on its own has its uniqueness but somewhere it lacks in presentation therefore, Indian mix with continental always allures more.

Chef Harpal while curating the entire food and beverage menu and plans of the lounge that is all set to offer a totally new experience to the discerning elite of Jalandhar told, “Cooking has always been my passion. I have always enjoyed creating new and innovative dishes using familiar ingredients to present Indian cuisine with a refreshing twist, something Indian customers always enjoy.”
