City team earns accolades at Patiala Olympics

JALANDHAR: State games organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Khelo India Scheme, under the Special Olympics Bharat, Punjab – were held at Patiala on March 23 and 24.

State games organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Khelo India Scheme, under the Special Olympics Bharat, Punjab – were held at Patiala on March 23 and 24. From the Jalandhar District Special Olympics Association under chairman Amarjit Singh Anan, more than 40 athletes and coaches participated in the games.

Special athletes from the city put up a good show at the event with Manish Aggarwal secretary of the association saying Harpreet from the Chanan Vocational Centre won two gold medals, Bhavnish won one gold and one silver medal, Navjot one won gold and one bronze medal and Chamandeep Singh won one bronze medal.

Jaspreet from the Udan School won two gold medals, Vivek won two gold medals, Harish won one gold and one silver medal. Among the school athletes, Gupreet won one gold and one bronze medal, Gurleen won one gold medal, Daman won one gold medal and one bronze medal, Gitesh won one bronze medal and Sarthak won one bronze medal.

Danish won two gold medals and Abu, Vasu and Kapil from the Durga Das Aggarwal School won one bronze medal, each. Three players of the Doaba hklsa Senior Secondary School Rakesh, Sunil and Vikas participated as partners in the Unified Football Tournament.

Association president Arvinder Singh, cashier Gurmukh Singh, coach Surjit Kaur, Santosh Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Kulbir Singh, Raju Chaudhary, Narinder Kaur, Jaswinder Singh, Rahul, Happy, among others were present on the occasion.
