JALANDHAR: The Central Public Work Department (CPWD) has drawn up a plan to construct general pool office accommodation (GPOA) in at Surya Enclave in 2000 sq yards area in Surya Enclave in the city.

Jalandhar, November 3

The Central Public Work Department (CPWD) has drawn up a plan to construct general pool office accommodation (GPOA) in at Surya Enclave in 2000 sq yards area in Surya Enclave in the city.

The estimated cost for the construction of the GPOA is Rs 9.92 crore and it is likely to be completed within 15 months.The stake holders for the GPOA, as revealed by officials at the inaugural ceremony, are the Enforcement Directorate, Press Information Bureau, Labour Enforcement Officer, Director General Supply and Disposal and Pest Management Centre.

The foundation stone of the project was laid by Abhai Sinha, Director General of the CPWD, New Delhi, here today. Prior to reaching Jalandhar, he had gone to Wagah Border to review the progress of upcoming viewers’ gallery.

Addressing the media at the event in Jalandhar, the DG, said, “This type of project is the very first of its kind in Punjab. The office building will be five-storeyed, including sanitary installations, water supply and electrical installations. The plot measuring 2000 sq yards was purchased from the Jalandhar Improvement Trust and after getting the approval of drawings, the construction work has been started now. The total covered area of the building is 37,805 sq ft and it is being constructed by HST Enterprises of Delhi,” he added.

RK Aggarwal, Additional DG, Chandigarh, and Anant Kumar, Chief Engineer, Jammu, said, “The building being constructed by the CPWD is totally eco-friendly and will follow the green building concept. It is specifically emphasised that funds have been allocated and there will not be any financial constraints. Also trees of broad foliage are proposed to be planted for preserving the environment. Properly designed and landscaped open spaces and public areas would also be constructed.”
