Jalandhar: The Department of Computer Science and Applications of B D Arya Girls College, Jalandhar Cantt, organised a one-week course on Internet and its uses under the skill development programme. As many as 20 students enrolled themselves in the course and gained the information on various internet usages like online reservations, online bill payments, online shopping and email etc. Principal Dr Sarita Verma appreciated the efforts of the staff and encouraged the students to acquire these skills to broaden their employability avenues and become self reliable. Industrial visit

Jalandhar: The Innocent Hearts Group of Institutions organised an industrial visit for BSc MLS (Medical lab sciences) students at Verka Milk Plant, Jalandhar.  Assistant Prof Megha Shridhar and Assistant Prof Bharti, accompanied and apprised the students of the importance and need of the visit. The training head of the plant explained about the working style of the various departments to the students. TNS 

Varsity position 

Jalandhar: Paramjit Kaur, a student of Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, bagged the 12th position in the university exam of MA, Punjabi (semester I) by getting 558 out of 800 marks. This information was given in a press release by principal Dr Gurpinder Singh Samra. The president of the college governing council, Sardarni Balbir Kaur, congratulated the student and wished her success in life. Prof Gopal Singh Buttar, head, the Department of Punjabi and Dr Sukhdev Singh Nagra, among others, were also present on the occasion. TNS

Orientation programme  

Jalandhar: Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya organised an orientation programme for NSS volunteers. The programme was inaugurated by singing of the National Anthem. A warm welcome was extended to the volunteers by programme officer Veena Arora. Dr Anjana Bhatia, programme officer, motivated the students to serve the society through NSS and also emphasised on personality development.  Principal Dr Ajay Sareen reminded the volunteers that NSS, in HMV, had glorious history. She encouraged the new team to work with enthusiasm to improve the condition of underprivileged sections of the society. The students were shown motivational documentaries. Office- bearer students of the NSS were decorated with badges by the principal. TNS
