Annual three-day cultural fest 'Spectra-2016' concluded at Lovely Professional University amid performances for international dances and songs by national as well as international students.  Along with thousands of national students, international students from 50-plus countries also participated in large number to compete and imbibe the assorted cultures. On looking students equally enjoyed and absorbed the true spirit of different musical forms be it Indian kuchipuddi, odissi, bharatnatyam; Yemeni popular dance 'al-Bara'; Maldivian 'bodu beru'; Sri Lankan 'kandyan'; Somali 'dhaanto'; the 'deuda' dance of Nepal; Sudanese 'nuba moro'; Rwandan 'intore'; 'jerusarema' of Zimbabwe; or Bhutanese 'rigsar'.  At different venues of the university, competitions for collage making on the theme of world peace, clay-modeling on the theme of mother and child, cartooning on modern scenario and waste material productions for Installation also conveyed great messages to the student-audience. With these participations, the fest concluded for 50-plus competitions, where 3,000 LPU students showcased their individual talent in five categories of music, dance, theatre, literary and fine arts. The winners of these different competitions will further participate in the national-level event 'Youth-Vibe-2016' to be held from October 18 to 22 on the  LPU campus.

Essay writing competition 

English Literary Society organised an essay writing competition on 'Mahatma Gandhi - A source of inspiration'. 70 students participated in this competition and expressed their view about the preacher of non-violence and truth and paid tribute to him. Bablee of BA-III won the first prize and Monika of BA-II year second. —TNS
